Brett Bieber stood at the redraw during intermission on Saturday in a snowy Gambler’s Classic in Atlantic City’s boardwalk hall. Bieber was the most dominate driver of the weekend in the All Star Slingshots annual appearance in the famed arena. His biggest concern through the three days of racing was where his fate would lie when it was out of his hands. Things played out well for the Oley native when one came up and Bieber was locked into the pole starting spot, leading every lap on his way to his second Atlantic City win.
Bieber’s first win in Atlantic City came in 2018. This victory was certainly different than many of the more recent indoor auto racing championship events. Beiber’s dominance left little question on who would stand in victory lane at the end of the weekend.
In Friday’s qualifier events, Bieber was challenged late in the event by Kyle Herve following a yellow flag that bunched the group up. Jared Silfee and Scott Neary also won qualifier races. Silfee and Neary found themselves in a similar spot as the Allentown race, inside the podium positions, but chasing the 32 car.
Silfee made a late race charge that got his number 1 car close to Bieber in lap traffic but the laps had run out.
Matt Mertz and Danny Buccafusca rounded out the top five finishers.
Brett Bieber set quick time in time trials. Bieber, Silfee, and Neary won Friday qualifiers and AJ Gerhart won the Saturday B Main.
Bieber has two wins in the two indoor races so far in 2022 with the finale coming on Friday and Saturday, March 11-12, 2022 in Syracuse, NY. Series champions will be named after the events.
